In today’s post I want to share with you some ideas on how to create a 90 Day Plan to achieve your writing goals as an Indie Author.
If you are focused on writing books and you want to stay on track to make writing your full-time income at some point, hopefully these ideas on planning will be helpful for you. Romance author Ruth Ann Nordin shared a link to a video about creating a 90 Day plan, and I was inspired to make my own plan.
My writing goal is also to make a living with my books, so that’s why I wanted to write out my 90 day plan. Setting your goals, is something that is helpful to do every Quarter(90 Days) in your Author Business because it helps you stay on track.
I hope that looking at this plan inspires you to create yours too π
Lessons Learned on Not Having a Writing Plan vs. Creating A Writing Plan
When I first started writing, I didn’t have any plan at all, except that I wanted to finish that first novel. I didn’t have any ideas about creating a plan. Which looking back, might explain why it took me so long to write that first novel.
So, as I’ve continued to write and self-publish books, I’ve learned some lessons along the way. The biggest one being that I need to make clear plans and break them down into small steps if I want to have any hope of getting my goals done!
Making clear and definable goals, is something I’ve learned from successful Indie Authors. I’ve realized that they all write down their writing, self-publishing and marketing plan a few months in advance.
It makes sense to have self-publishing strategy that gets you to the goals you want to achieve.
You’ll find you have a greater chance to achieve your writing, self-publishing and marketing goals if you have them written down where you can see them everyday.
So, below you can see a screenshot of my 90 day plan:
I keep this 90 plan along with other inspirational says near the desk beside my computer to inspire and motivate me everyday. It really helps to stay focused!
Please do let me know if you use a 30, 60 orΒ 90 day plan to organize your writing, self-publishing and marketing schedule π
